Xebat Rasouli
Xebat Rasouli is a Kurdish Iranian writer and journalist. He has taken on diverse roles through his career such as editor of the magazine Raman and the Kurdish newspaper Xebat. Originally from the region of Kurdistan in Iran, Rasouli’s work centers around the experiences of Kurdish writers, politics and sexual politics of the region, as well sociology, literature and philosophy. Having been the subject of censorship and harassment throughout his journalistic career, he has been vocal about the importance for Kurds to be free to write, speak and read in Kurdish languages.
Rasouli is the author of four short story collections,The Wine Years (2006), Waran (2014), The Empty Luggage (2018) and Unwritten Stories of Qarna (2021), a collection of 27 tales about the massacres of Kurdish villages, including the village of Qarna. He also translated into Kurdish Gavkouni (2008), a novel by Jafar Modarres Sadeghi.
