Wild about Words - Omid Shams Gakieh unveils literary sculpture at Aarhus Festival
The festival Vild med ord takes place in Aarhus and lasts from 28. to 31. August. Omid will be unveiling a sculpture filled with literary and other references to the cultural and political Iranian present, and be interviewed by Bjarke Wimdahl Pedersen, who works as a journalist for Amnesty International. The event will take place at the Pavillonscenen at 1:40 pm on Sunday, 31. August.
Omid Shams Gakieh arrived in Aarhus in April 2014, and centres his work on post-modernist literature, avant garde movements from the 1960s and -70s, philosophy on anarchism and autonomism, post-structural feminism, political theatre and performance art. He holds a degree in American Studies and works as a writer, translator, activist, artist and literature critic. He is currently working on a theatre play and plans to compile an anthology of Persian poems for publication during the autumn/winter of 2014/2015.
Omid Shams Gakieh is the second guest writer arriving in Aarhus since the city became an ICORN member in 2008.
