Video art featuring ICORN guest writers
From November 30 up to December 8, 2012 the Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin/Madrid has created a space of discovery and reflection between new cinema and contemporary art in Paris, at Palais de Tokyo and Gaité Lyrique. At the festival visitors can see "Focus Norvège Høstutstillingen", where the works of eight Norwegian artists included in the 2012 Høstutstillingen is presented (Høstutstillingen is the most prestigious art exhibition in Norway). Among these eight works are "Between".
"Between" video art is made by Kari Klyve-Gulbrandsen and Odveig Klyve. "Between" is three short films featuring texts in English and Arabic by three ICORN guest writers, Manal Al-Sheikh (Stavanger/Iraq), Safaa Alwan (Skien/Iraq) and Mansur Rajih (Stavanger/Yemen). "Between" reflects upon what it is like being in a state between belonging and missing, how it feels living in the tension between political forces and between cultures and geographical places. An excerpt of "Between" can be seen here.
The production of "Between" was financially supported by the Norwegian cities of refuge and Shahrazad - stories for life.
