He has taught creative writing and literary criticism at both Columbia University in New York and Richard Hugo House in Seattle.
These poems have been selected from of a custom-designed deck of playing cards entitled Most Wanted. Encke's playing-card project has been included in several exhibitions - most recently as part of a visual poetry exhibition at Harvard University.
