Faraj Bayrakdar featured in documentary about his imprisonment, 'Story of Freedom'
In 1987, he was arrested on suspicion of belonging to the Party for Communist Action. He was held incommunicado for nearly seven years and was tortured. In 1993, the Supreme Court sentenced him to fifteen years in prison. Fourteen months shy of completing the entire sentence, Faraj Bayrakdar was granted amnesty.
The documentary, directed by Adel Abas and released by Adab Films, gathers Bayrakdar's reflections on his 15 years in a Syrian prison. He arrived in Stockholm City of Refuge as a Guest Writer and continues to live there. To watch a trailer for the film, please click here.
