Växjö is happy to announce that Nasrin Madani Zad, an Iranian novelist, critic, journalist and editor, is their first guest writer.

Nasrin Madani Zad was born in 1979. She is an Iranian novelist, critic, journalist and editor who have written many articles about poetry, comparative reviews, novels and short stories.

Nasrin Madani Zad has a master degree in Persian literature from the Azad University of Tehran. She wrote her first novel when she was 17 years old. She has been awarded several prices for her short stories, for instance the Sadegh Hedait Prize in 2007 (Sadegh Hedait was a well-known oppositional writer). Two of her latest collections of short stories have been banned in Iran. She tried to publish her work online, but online censorship is also strong in Iran. Nasrin Madani Zad believes in freedom of expression and her stay in Växjö will give her the opportunity to continue her work without being censured.
