Svetlana Alexievich on the condition for writers and artists in Exile
Svetlana Alexievich received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2015. She was ICORN writer in residence in Gothenburg from 2006-2008 and godmother to the ICORN General Assembly and 10 years anniversary celebrated in Paris City Hall in March 2016. In this film, she addresses the participants.
From 30 March to 1 April 2016, the International Cities of Refuge Network will gather in Paris to convene the 2016 ICORN General Assembly, and to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the founding of ICORN.
The general assembly is organised by the ICORN Administration Centre, in close cooperation with the City of Paris. It will bring together guest writers and artists, city coordinators, political representatives, human rights activists, partners, sister organisations and other guests, to scrutinize the conditions of freedom of expression and to pave the way for the future of the network.
