Nine ICORN writers contributes to new literary anthology ’Välkommen hit, välkommen hem’

On March 1 2018, the anthology " Välkommen hit, välkommen " (Welcome here, welcome home) will be launched in Uppsala. Nine ICORN writers have contributed to the publication.

The anthology includes texts by Zurab Rtveliashvili, Ashraf Atraqchi (Stockholm), Nasrin Madani (Växjö), Naeimeh Doostdar, Jude Dibia (Malmö), Ragip Zarakolu, Iman Al-ghafari (Sigtuna), Sedigheh Vasmaghi, Anisur Rahman (Uppsala). The book also consists of texts written by Uppsala citizens and writers who participated in literary workshops led by Uppsala's ICORN Writer 2009-2011 Anisur Rahman under 2016-2017.

Book Launch

The book launch will take place on 1 March at 5-8 pm at Uppsala City Library. The programme includes:

Introduction by conferencier Anna Lena Åberg, principal at Wiks folkhögskola will deliver the welcome speech and present the book.

Panel debate on The role of our anthologies and socilogy of literature, with moderator Ola Larsmo, writer and honrary doctorate, Uppsala University. Discussants: Andreas Hedberg, researcher, Department of Literature, Uppsala University. Andreas Åberg, Swedish Arts Council (literature, reading promotion and International affairs), Kajsa Ravin, director of culture, Region Uppsala, Peter Gustavsson, president at Board of Culture, City of Uppsala. Lars Häger, poet and Head of Studiefrämjandet Uppsalaregionen.

Lars Burstedt will read from the book Välkommen hit, välkommen hem.

Litteraturcentrum Uppsala: Next series of Literary Workshops

Litteraturcentrum was established by Bagladeshi poet and writer in Uppsala, Anisur Rahmah, during his ICORN residency. Nearly two hundred writers, both professional and amateur, took part in workshops in Litteraturcentrum Uppsala in 2017, discussing literature and creativity, developing ideas and receiving guidance from invited writers. The literary workshops will continue over 2018 and next series will begin on March 22. Writing workshops conducted by Anisur Rahman are held at the public library, from 5 to 7.30 pm, and are free to attend.

Workshop fall on the following dates:

March 22 (with Lars Häger, Magnus Dahlerus)

April 12 (with Lisa Bjurvald, Inger Norberg)

April 19 (with Louise Bown)

April 26 (with Ola Larsmo)

May 3 (with Uppsala’s new ICORN writer and Anna Ehn)

May 17 (with Mats Kempe and Kristina Sandsberg)
