New ICORN member city: Ljubljana!
On Friday 8 April 2011, the Lord Mayor Mr. Zoran Jankovic signed the membership agreement between ICORN and the City of Ljubljana. Through becoming an ICORN city of refuge to persecuted writers, the culturally vibrant capital of Slovenia confirms its commitment to the values of solidarity, hospitality and cosmopolitanism. Already designated a Unesco World Capital of Books for 2010, the City of Ljubljana in close cooperation with Slovenian PEN will make sure that their investments in literature, freedom of expression and international solidarity will bear lasting fruits.
Passing 35 member cities in Europe and beyond, we are delighted that the city Ljubljana is joining our organisation, says ICORN director Helge Lunde. Undoubtedly, the Slovenian capital will play an important role and take actively part in shaping the future of the network.
