The Mslexia Women's Poetry Competition open for entries

Mslexia, a magazine dedicated to the literary work of women, are calling for submissions to their poetry competition . Any female writer can submit their work, and poems may be in any style, of any length, on any subject. The deadline for submissions is 26 July 2010.

"Women poets have written some of the most original and powerful poetry of the last century and the extraordinary thing is that the number of brilliant women poets is growing," says competition judge Vickie Feaver. "The excitement of judging the Mslexia competition is that among the entries there could be another poet of the stature of Elizabeth Bishop or Sylvia Plath, or to name just a couple of contemporary poets, Carol Ann Duffy and Jo Shapcott. These poets are all very different and I've got no fixed ideas about the kind of poem that will win: just that I'll know it when I read it!"
