Kapittel 06, the International Festival of Literature and Free Speech, took place from the 13t to the 17th of September.
Writers from all over the continent of Africa came to the little coastal city of Stavanger. The African disporia was represented by writers such as Chris Albani and Ben Okri.
The local chapter of AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL arranged readings each night of the festival for the ICORN Guest Writers and Former Guest writers of Stavanger City of Refuge.
The writers who took part were Islam Elsanov (Chechnya) , Chenjerai Hove (Zimbabwe), Mansour Koushan (Iran) and Mansur Rajih (Yemen).
In addition to reading their own work, each Guest Writer presented the story of another persecuted writer, either in prison or otherwise robbed of their freedom. The writers presented were Jack Mapanje (Malawi/England), Aref Dalila (Syria), Ramin Jahanbegloo (Iran) and Boris Stomakhin (Russia).
