At present passing 40 member cities and regions, further growth and expansion - geographically and in scope - are among the subjects up for discussion during ICORN’s third Generally Assembly as an independent, international membership organisation. It is a unique chance to meet colleagues from across borders and sectors, and to remember the reasons why we are here: to give the writers a new opportunity in a safe space, to execute their basic human right to freedom of expression.
The ICORN General Assembly programme is taking shape and kicks off with a reception hosted by the Mayor in the Ljubljana Castle on Wednesday 21 May. A rich and inspiring programme continues through to Saturday 24 May. Participants can look forward to valuable workshops on; the arts of hospitality; exit strategies and new beginnings; publishing and the media, and; funding, promotion and cooperation opportunities within the network.
Our Ljubljana General Assembly coincides and overlaps with the 2014 edition of the Overflight Theatre Festival, which runs from Thursday 22 to Sunday 25 May. We are all invited to a magnificent opening of the festival on Thursday 22 May, which during these fruitful days will host a workshop for the ICORN Guest Writers, where they will have the opportunity to meet with other writers attending the festival.
Friday evening wraps up the assembly with river poetry on the Ljubljanica river, an adventurous event, where audience will be brought along the river while experiencing a wide range of readings.
