Listen to Arya Aramnejad hymn to a better future - I will kiss you one day.

Arya Aramnejad is a popular Iranian musician from Babol in the northern part of Iran. In 2018, he was welcomed in Stockholm as the first musician hosted by the city in the ICORN programme. He has since staged several concerts and collaborated with many Swedish musicians. He will have a new album released soon, hopefully this year.

His song I will kiss you one day has a fighting spirit, it displays his undisputable love and affection for the people of Iran and a clear hope for the future:

«….I will kiss you when the sounds of bullets have ceased

I will kiss you when all the weapons have been laid down

I will kiss you behind the prison cells’ doors when they don’t smell of torture.

When there is no wounds laughing on our bodies

when there is no tears in our eyes….»

Arya Aramnejad

Arya Aramnejad has been writing and performing songs from an early age. He has written songs for many other singers, including well-known Iranian singer Noosh Afarin, who is based in the USA. Most of Arya's compositions are social and political critiques, thus he was not allowed to record them in authorised music studios in Iran as the Ministry of Culture placed severe restrictions not only on the people who run the studios, but on the content of the music they produced. Aramnejad managed to distribute his songs underground and over the internet, and has reached great popularity. He is most famous for his song Ali Barkhiz where he denounces the Islamic regime’s crimes during the 2009 Ashura protests. After this, he lived under threat and was imprisoned several times.
