Words Without Borders
Along with the myriad ancient virtues of storytelling--giving pleasure, passing time, stimulating thought, connecting strangers--literature is a passport to places both real and imagined. In an increasingly interdependent world, rife with ignorance and incomprehension of other cultures, literature in translation has an especially important role.
The New Writing Partnership is a unique enterprise that aims to highlight, develop and support creative writing, establishing the East of England as a national and international centre of excellence. It intends to nurture and promote emerging talent and form educational and professional networks to help writers, and widen access to the pleasures and rewards of writing and literature through a programme of workshops, forums, international conferences, awards, community projects and cross-arts collaborations. The New Writing Partnership also hosts the project Norwich, City of refuge, making Norwich the first ICORN city in the UK.

Index on Censorship was founded in 1972 by a dedicated team of writers, journalists and artists inspired by the British poet Stephen Spender to take to the page in defence of the basic human right of free expression. Today it is one of the world's leading repositories of original, challenging, controversial and intelligent writing on free expression issues.
Banipal - Arab literature in translation. Banipal was founded in 1998 by Margaret Obank and Iraqi author Samuel Shimon and is an independent literary magazine publishing contemporary authors and poets from all over the Arab world in English translation. Three issues a year.
The Exiled Journalists’ Network is an organisation set up to help journalists who have fled to the UK to escape persecution because of their media work.
