Added: December 2009 to Events, Festivals and Opportunities
ICORN began recruiting member cities to host persecuted writers in 2006. Over 25 cities from Europe and beyond have since joined. On January 1, 2010, ICORN officially becomes an independent, international organisation, and this is celebrated in London on January 7.
The festive event will take place at the Free Word Centre in
London at 8pm, in the company of ICORN's executive board, ICORN guest writers and invited guests from the UK and abroad. ICORN's Shahrazad - stories for life project will present short readings by ICORN writers Philo Ikonya (Kenya/Oslo) and Pegah Ahmadi (Iran/Frankfurt), and Vice President of International PEN Moris Farhi. Ursula Owen, publisher and founder of Free Word Centre, will host the evening.
